After she accepts, he blows her off in a very cruel fashion. She retaliates by casting a spell that physically transforms him into everything he hates. Enraged by his horrible appearance he confronts Kendra and learns that the only way to break the curse is to find someone that will love him as he is, which is something he considers impossible.

Another one of those "I am a teenage werewolf" movies. This time its about pretty Kyle who becomes ugly Hunter...only the love of a good woman can break the spell. And so it goes. The only original thing about this movie is the hilarious final shot.
As I am watching Beastly. I am supposed to be the lead character ugliness came out in tattooing, piercings and scarification (all the things he detested). I get the movie's premise. Yet, there are a whole slew of people who do these things to their body for their ideal of beauty. I know a bunch of girls, that would have liked him, because he looked so different. Plus he lives in NYC, there are guys walking around openly looking like that. If they wanted me to believe this nonsense, I would suggest they had demolished his entire face, like the woman who was attacked by her friend's chimp. You still believe in the beauty and perseverance that she gives out. I would also like to add that stalking a female in a movie, is not anyway romantic, but highly creepy. In noway is that acceptable romantic behavior for anyone.
The movie could have been better, but still had some good moments. However, as an interpretation of the book, this movie just didn't make it. Still mostly good as a stand-alone, though.
This movie just might be the type of film that a person outgrows on the day that he or she turns eighteen. The script was terrible; the movie sometimes seemed like a cell phone advertisement; Vanessa Hudgens played a complete ditz - no one who grew up in poverty, with a dead mother and a druggie father, could possibly act so sheltered, so naive, or so flippant. It is also interesting to note that in so many Hollywood stories, the main characters' mothers are always absent, dead, or negligent (this is not a film spoiler, as the complete lack of female role models in these young characters' lives becomes apparent quite early on). For a much more interesting and more humorous take on the Beauty and the Beast story, I recommend watching the 2006 film Penelope.
Saw this with my mom(Lame,I know...but I don't have a bf,so yeah)when it was in the theaters and loved it.I thought that Vanessa was beautiful and Alex...Well I thought he was C.U.T.E.I give this...
Beastly is a modern adaptation of the Beauty and the Beast story line. I was pleasantly surprised by this film as I am not really much of a teen drama fan. There are some nice moments, even if they are a bit predictable, and some interesting characters--I particularly enjoyed Mary-Kate Olsen's portrayal of Kendra. Overall, a good movie.
all teenages should watch this
I like the plot of this movie- Its a lesson in modesty and whats really important
a retelling of "beauty and the beast" brought up to date. Very Well Done.
